Player feedback has been positive for two United States Tennis Association-sanctioned tennis tournaments for junior players hosted by Slammer Tennis World and the Norwalk Recreation and Parks Department.

"l wanted to start with juniors first,” said tournament director Marvin Tyler of Slammer Tennis World, who is trying to bring more tennis tournaments to Norwalk.

“[Players] were happy to have a USTA-sanctioned tennis tournament in Norwalk. The parents that I spoke with were happy to have them here."

Volunteers helped Tyler run the tournaments, which attracted players from throughout Connecticut.

There were two tournaments. In the boys 14 singles final in the first tournament, Andrew Lawless defeated Suryansh Patel. Carlos Mauleon defeated Sebastion Mauelo in the boys 12 final. In the girls 14 final, Sanjana Chintalapudi defeated Sophie Radtke, and Andi Rosenblatt won the girls 12 final over Tessa Rebold.

In the second tournament, Joshua Moskovitz defeated Wilhad Reuter in the boys 14 final, and James Dill took the boys 12 final over Michael Pastor. Shelby Marcus topped Maxine Gorelick in the girls 14 final, and Maitlyn Murphy stopped Rebecca Link in the girls 12 final.
