NORWALK, Conn. – If you'd like to send your child to Side by Side Charter School, you'll have to attend one of several upcoming open houses, according to a statement from the school.

Admissions are made through a lottery, and applications are available during open houses. Enrollment applications will be accepted for fall 2012 to fill seats in prekindergarten for 3- and 4-year olds through eighth grade.

To attend an open house, you must make a reservation. For reservations, call 203-857-0306. Open house dates are Wednesdays, as follows:

  • Feb. 1, 10:30 a.m.
  • Feb. 29, 5 p.m.
  • March 14, 10:30 a.m.
  • March 28, 10:30 a.m.
  • April 11, 5 p.m.

The lottery will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the gym at Side by Side. Admission information can be found on the school's website.

The 15-year-old Side by Side Charter School was one of the first charter schools in the state. The school features a core belief that a child's intellectual, social and emotional growth develops through experiences in the classroom and in the outside world. School officials say that the curriculum, while in transition to meet common core standards, incorporates challenging interactive lessons, partnerships with neighboring museums and art centers, Long Island Sound science studies, and field trips to local commercial enterprises and municipal offices as well as historical and cultural destinations.
