NORWALK, Conn. – Updated at 11:43 a.m. Monday, Jan. 23
Even Norwalk's Department of Public Works had problems with Saturday's snowfall, as these pictures from a reader of The Daily Norwalk show.
A snowplow got stuck on the front lawn on a Woodacre Road home Saturday morning, Rich Wellen reports. The DPW sent a second plow to help, but it also got stuck, he said. Then a front loader sent to help got stuck, too.
Wellen says the second truck was also a sander and finally threw down enough sand to inch its way forward. The front loader wiggled its way free and scraped the snow from in front of the first truck that was stuck on the lawn of the red house. They then spun the tires and dug up the lawn until the tires finally grabbed and they rocked it free. They eventually cleared the road by coming from above off Birchside Drive.
Woodacre road is very steep, Wellen says, adding, "Haven't seen a plow stuck here before but school busses. I think the problem was they had no tire chains on the trucks. Normally they have chains."

There's no word about what happened after that.

Any excuse for a dig at the mayor. People just spew trash without thinking. They likely did the center first so traffic could go through & were coming back to finish later, if the cars were still gone. As far as the speed it actually helps if not too nuts, if they try crawling thru they can end up stuck, as anybody who has driven in snow should know. Nobodies perfect but the City tries & in my opinion usually does a decent job.
