Each week in this section you can find a new article about things to keep you busy in and near your garden -- in every season.
Week 5: It may seem strange to think about ordering plants in the dead of winter, but why not do it now while you have time -- instead of dirt -- on your hands?
If you're interested in locally grown native plants, take a look at The Native Plant Center at Westchester Community College's wildflower and native plant pre-sale. WCC offers 50 varieties of common and not-so-common flowering plants, grasses, ground cover, ferns, shrubs and trees. Each plant is described in exquisite detail alongside a color photograph. Prices are very reasonable - and Native Plant Center members get a 5 percent discount when they spend more than $85.
The deadline for orders is Feb. 17 and plants will be ready for pick up from April 25 to 28.
